Information for Authors: Japanese manga artist most known for his manga Rave, published by Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, from 1999 to 2005. The series was later adapted into an anime. However, the anime adaption was cancelled before it could complete the series. In 2003, he collected some of his one-shot titles in two volumes: Mashima-en. Those stories include, among others, Cocona, "Xmas Hearts" and Fairy Tail. In 2006, he began his series, Fairy Tail, serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. He also published the manga Monster Hunter Orage. Hiro Mashima was a notable guest at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con. He was influenced largely by TORIYAMA Akira's work growing up. He also stated that he was influenced by TANAKA Hiroshi and often copied his drawings. He had no experience as an assistant and learned how to draw manga by reading books and learning from editors and his own assistants. Among his former assistants there are YOSHIKAWA Miki, NAKAMURA Kouji, MIKUNI Shin, UEDA Ai, CHIDA Junsei, ENDA Marimo, KOBAYASHI Kina & OHSAWA Bobby. He has one daughter. Mashima Hiro is a pen name, it’s a combination of names from members of punk band The Blue Hearts, MASHIMA Masatoshi & KOMOTO Hiroto. YT
